Museums
The town and its residents are fortunate that there are three remarkable buildings under Society care. These are the 18th century Caryl Farm with period displays, next to it is the Fisher Barn containing agricultural tools. The brick Federal Style Sawin Museum overlooking the pre-Revolutionary Old Training Field across to the Town Hall completes the list.
Field Trips
We play a role in educating Dover’s children about our collective past. Local schools students visit our properties annually, inspiring the children to ask critical questions and think about how history has changed their lives. Some students involve themselves in internships at the museums.
Lectures and Presentations
Our popular speaker event series offer insights into local town history as well as other events of interest. Some of our recent presentations have included “Pits, Posts and Palisades – The archaeology of 17th-century Plymouth Colony Settlement” and “Two Fires That Shaped Boston.”
