Dover Days Gone By
Dover Days Gone By has been written in the Spirit of America’s Bicentennial Celebration, not as a complete and comprehensive history of the town, but rather as a picture of Dover’s past. It attempts to present images of people and places and visions into the past; and in the wide panorama of American History, it illustrates some of the poignant, serious, amusing and significant events that have made Dover the unique community that is today … A particularly beautiful and blessed country town in 1976.
Perhaps through the pages of DOVER DAYS GONE BY we all will see more clearly not only our origins as a community, but also the stages of evolution and change that have carried us to our place in the present.
And perhaps through these pages we may gain a better insight and understanding of how and where we are to proceed from here as a community, as we enter the third hundred years of America.
